As climate change escalates, the stability of ecosystems and the welfare of human communities face increasing threats. The need for effective adaptation strategies has never been more pressing. Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) has surfaced as a strategic, community-focused approach that utilizes biodiversity and ecosystem services to bolster climate resilience. This method not only addresses climate challenges but also provides numerous co-benefits, such as enhanced food and water security, conservation of biodiversity, and the promotion of sustainable livelihoods.
However, despite its significant potential, securing adequate and sustained financing for EbA initiatives remains a daunting challenge. The existing funding gap hinders the widespread implementation of EbA, preventing it from realizing its full capacity as a catalyst for global adaptation efforts. Addressing this financial shortfall is crucial for advancing EbA strategies, ensuring that ecosystems can continue to support communities in the face of climate change, and fostering a more resilient future for all.
