Dun & Bradstreet has announced a new integration that brings its commercial data directly into Google's Gemini Enterprise platform, specifically tailored for financial services. The move uses the Model Context Protocol, or MCP, to let AI agents pull from the company's "Commercial Graph" in real time.
For banks, investment firms, and insurance companies, this means their AI tools can now access verified information on millions of businesses without leaving the chat interface. Instead of relying on static databases or manual lookups, a financial analyst could ask Gemini about a company's payment history, credit risk, or supply chain exposure, and get an answer backed by Dun & Bradstreet's curated records.
The key difference here is trust. Generic AI models often generate plausible but incorrect answers, which is a non-starter in finance where decisions hinge on accurate data. By linking Gemini to a verified source, the system can cite where the information came from, allowing users to check the underlying records themselves. That reduces the risk of hallucinated numbers or outdated profiles slipping into reports or risk assessments.
The integration also supports more complex workflows. For example, a loan officer could have an AI agent draft a preliminary risk memo using live data, then flag any gaps for human review. Or a compliance team could automate parts of their due diligence process, pulling in ownership structures and sanctions lists as needed.
Dun & Bradstreet says the protocol-based approach keeps the setup flexible, so financial institutions can adapt it to their existing systems without rebuilding everything from scratch. Early adopters are already testing use cases around portfolio monitoring and fraud detection, though the company has not shared specific client names yet.
This is part of a broader trend where data providers are making their products available to AI agents in a machine-readable way, rather than forcing users to navigate separate portals. For finance teams, the promise is simple: faster answers, fewer manual checks, and a clearer audit trail. Whether that holds up in practice will depend on how well the integration handles the messy, real-world data that financial institutions deal with daily.
