ATLANTA, August 12, 2026 - LendingPoint, a fintech company that uses artificial intelligence to handle consumer credit origination and loan servicing, has announced its new executive leadership team. The group is headed by Chief Executive Officer Mark Freeman, with Craig Shmoldas taking on the role of Chief Financial Officer and Roy Russo serving as Chief Technology Officer.
The company says this leadership structure is designed to speed up its next stage of expansion. Freeman moved into the CEO position back in March 2026, having previously served as Interim Chief Executive Officer. His promotion to the permanent role came after a period of steady performance and internal review.
Shmoldas brings a background in financial strategy and capital markets, which will be key as LendingPoint looks to scale its lending operations. Russo, meanwhile, will oversee the technology side, focusing on the AI models that power the company's credit decisions and servicing platforms.
The announcement comes at a time when many lenders are tightening their underwriting standards. LendingPoint, however, has leaned into its data-driven approach to reach borrowers who may be overlooked by traditional banks. The company has won several industry awards for its use of machine learning in credit scoring.
With this team now in place, LendingPoint aims to refine its product offerings and expand its reach in the consumer lending space. The executives will report directly to the board and are expected to outline more specific growth targets in the coming quarters.
