Stripe has announced plans to acquire Parafin, a platform that provides embedded financial products, in a deal revealed on Wednesday. The move is aimed at deepening Stripe's ability to serve the thousands of software platforms that rely on its infrastructure to offer financial services to their own customers.
Parafin specializes in building financial tools that platforms can plug directly into their existing products. These include merchant cash advances, revenue-based financing, and other capital products that help small and medium businesses access funding without going through traditional banks. By bringing Parafin in house, Stripe intends to make these capabilities available across the roughly 18,000 platforms that run on its network.
The acquisition reflects a broader trend in fintech, where payment processors and software companies are racing to embed lending, banking, and credit services directly into the tools businesses already use every day. For Stripe, owning the underlying technology means it can offer a more complete package to platforms that want to add revenue without building financial products from scratch.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions. Once completed, Parafin's team and technology are expected to be folded into Stripe's existing platform services, giving its customers faster access to capital products that were previously harder to integrate.
